You will LOVE this heavenly, moist, chocolaty cake with a rich chocolate butter-cream cheese frosting. Every bite will melt in your mouth!

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Take two - 9" round cake pans and butter /grease the bottom and sides.

    Cut out two 9" round circles of Parchment Paper; place in the bottom of the cake pans.

  2. Place flour, sugar, cocoa, powder, soda and salt into a sifter and sift into a large bowl (or Kitchenaid bowl). 

    You will need to do this in two batches, unless you have a jumbo sifter
  3. Whisk all dry ingredients in bowl. OR if using a Kitchenaid, mix in mixer for 10 seconds.

  4. Add the eggs to the dry ingredients and mix. 

  5. Add the buttermilk (secret ingredient no. 1), vanilla and oil. Mix until combined.

  6. Slowly pour cup of hot coffee (this is secret ingredient no.2) into batter. You need between 1/2 - 1 Cup of coffee.  You want the consistency a bit on the runny side, but not too runny.

  7. Be sure to scrap the sides and bottom of the bowl to get all the batter consistent.

    Pour into prepared pans and bake for 18 -20 minutes. 

  8. To check if done, insert a toothpick into the center. They are done when a toothpick comes out clean.

  9. Remove cake from oven and cool for 20 -25 minutes.  Once cooled, transfer cakes from pan to a wire rack and cool cakes completely.

  10. Once completely cooled, frost with chocolate buttercream frosting and ENJOY!
